How long does it take to rank up from a 2Lt to a 1LT?

I want to join the Army after high school by joining the ROTC program. I know that you get commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. I want to rank up just as Colin Powell and follow his career and rank up as he did. How long does it take/ how quickly and what are the requirements?
